Recently, third grade students studied the Vikings in their classrooms. They learned about Viking culture, their travels and imagined Leif Erickson’s ship. We decided to create Viking ships with a pop up sail in Art. The students shared their knowledge and we watched a video to learn ship building details. Each student designed their ship with a unique mystical animal, shields and a sail on an oil pastel watercolor resist background. Great job third grade!
